Like the parable of Plato's cave with its powerful depiction in terms of light and shadow, Hoover's work especially her performance pieces, manage to create a space of looming shadows and pure light. We as spectators are chained to the images unsure whether what we see is real or unreal captivated by this world of light and shadows. Indeed like its counterpart, `Light Dissolves`, this work creates shifting forms with her body, merging fantasy and reality together. The body and natural forms are explored dreamily and with precise control under the effect of light. [Stefan Aquilina]
