Douwe Dijkstra, Artist in distribution, Netherlands, 1984

Douwe Dijkstra (1984, Netherlands) graduated in 2005 from the ArtEZ
institute of the Arts in Zwolle. His graduation film The Washing Machine
won several prices, including the TENT Academy Award.
Since then he is sometimes working on commissioned films but most of
the time Douwe participate in projects that are experimental or
inquisitive in nature. Ranging from music videos and short films to video
installations and theatre. Now and then he shows work in
museums/galleries.
In 2006 he helped start Festina Lente Collective. A creative Amsterdam
based network/agency he still works with regularly. Together with Festina
Lente he created the music video Beguine in 2008.
Together with Jules van Hulst and Coen Huisman he founded 33 1/3
Collective in 2008. A collective that primarily works on theatre
productions that rely on video projections, film and animation to tell their
stories. In 2011 the collective created BlueBeard, a video-mapping opera
that was shown in Rotterdam, Glasgow and New York.
In 2013 Douwe worked on his first solo exhibition called DoorDouwe. This
resulted in the presentation of the 3-channel video installation
Démontable and the short film of the same name.
