The Golem is a character in a Jewish folk story, a kind of artificial man made of clay who can be brought to life by correctly reciting the true name of God. Bielicky locates him in a graveyard in Prague that bears the splendid name of 'The House of Life'. Inscriptions are brought to life and the Hebrew letters merge with visual symbols to form letter pictograms which contain the information of how to invoke the Golem.
