LIMA is researching new methods for the documentation, transmission and preservation of media art, digital art and performances. With UNFOLD, LIMA has taken up the subject of reinterpretation and will research the question whether and how this mode can be used as conserving strategy.
By bringing together international professionals, curators, artists and scholars in this practice based project we aim to provide greater insight into the challenges related to conserving media art beyond the technology and creating a consortium to work on further research on this topic.
Next to the expert-meetings and the conducted research, we are happy to have a total of four public events in order to share the asked questions with the public. In collaboration with Sonic Acts, a workshop by Joost Rekveld will also be organised. The workshop will consist of hands-on tryouts of possible wearable sensors (open lab), discussions and a presentation. The final work by Joost Rekveld will premiere at the International Film Festival Rotterdam in January 2017.
The first expert meeting was held on June 6th 2016 and the last on January 7, 2017. For more detailed information about these events, you can find the events on the right and find out more about the programme.
This project is made possible by with the generous support from the Mondriaan Fund and Creative Industries Fund NL.
