Kurt D'Haeseleer, Artist in distribution, België, 1974
Kurt D'Haeseleer (Anderlecht, Belgium 1974) realised videos as “File” and “Fossilization”, that showed at numerous international festivals and exhibitions in Rotterdam, Tokyo, Montreal, Paris, Berlin etc. In 2004 he realised the multi channel installation “S*CKMYP” in coöperation with Belgian writer Peter Verhelst and musician Köhn. The interactive installation “Scripted Emotions” was awarded a special mention at the Transmediale festival in Berlin (2006).
Next to his work as an independent visual artist he is a stage-designer for both opera and theatre and he performs live audiovisual shows together with musician Guillaume Graux as TUK.
Kurt D'Haeseleer's work focuses on the visualisation and symbolisation of the dynamic of information and data traffic in these times of fibreglass cables, computers and modems. He studies the physical and urban impact of speed and translates the all-encompassing presence of media into meta-photos. Special effects play an important role in his work that can best be described as a pixel drama or pixel soap, at the cutting edge of painting, video clips, cinema and performance.
