Lin de Mol, Artist in distribution, Netherlands, 1966

Lin de Mol (1966) is a Dutch media artist who currently lives and works in Amsterdam. She studied sculpture and film/video at the Rietveld Academie and Rijksakademie van Beeldende Kunst in Amsterdam; later, she also attended additional studies in film and computer techniques in Dublin and the United States.
Her work covers a wide range of media: from video installations to projects in public space, photography and short films, which have been shown at international festivals in Europe, Japan, Australia and the United States.
Lin de Mol’s films are condensed through exact framing and editing; she uses only the essential to tell a story. Her imagery evokes a surreal atmosphere: the films map out the elusive structure of the subconscious mind. The disturbing interference of dreams create a constant tension between fiction and reality. The viewer gets drawn into this personal world, as if seeing it through his/her own eyes. Her sensual stories show that it is in the highly personal that we become universal.
