A performance by Joan Jonas, held at De Appel on January 24th, 1979. Jonas tells us a kind of fairy tale about a girl. The story is enhanced by music from a barrel organ. On the screen, we can see the perforated strips of paper used for this type of music. Jonas’ real voice is alternated with a tape-recorded version. Suddenly the performance is suspended. We land abruptly in the middle of the preparations for the performance. The props are being set up, and microphones are being tested. Then a rehearsal begins, which does not run smoothly. 'There’s something wrong with the tape recorder', we hear Jonas say. After this, we can still see images, but the sound has gone.
