The past is gone forever. That's why attempts to trace history from the perspective of the present-day always result in subjective interpretations. The tradition of history is a mixture of truth and fiction. In this sophisticated quasi-documentary Un Chien Délicieux, an old Thai tells a colourful story of his encounter many years ago with the French Surrealists - a couple of whom were visiting the country for anthropological purposes - and about how he subsequently stayed with them in Paris. He also describes how he managed to shock the Surrealists at a farewell dinner by serving them 'delicious dog' which is considered an irresistible delicacy in his own country. His tale is supported by realistic images of how people kill dogs in Thailand and prepare them s a meal. Is this for real?
