Nan Hoover has occupied herself with video in Holland since 1974 and has accomplished an oeuvre that is very constant and characteristic. Her work is meditative and evokes a concentrated atmosphere. Generally a part of her body causes shifting from lights and shadows. She made this tape during a stay in Berlin, where she had a studio on street level with heavy traffic. The light projections mainly come from outside, they are the reflections of cars that fall into the studio via windows across the street. These mechanical streaks of light induce Hoover to make a tenuous and poetical tape.
