Alchemy plays a major role in Terry Fox’s work. His performances are mystical scientific experiments with various objects. Lunedi is one of these experiments. The act is filmed in such a way that it arouses the viewer’s curiosity about the way in which Fox has created the sound. The tape opens with a shot filmed from a few metres’ distance, in which Fox’s shadow can be seen through a doorway. Very slowly the camera zooms in, so that the viewer can make out more and more of Fox. At a certain moment, it can be seen that Fox is playing with a bow on the edge of a metal bowl. Zooming in even further, it appears that, at the same time, he is also playing on another bowl. The sound is full and warm, and the resonance of the bowl gives all this a sacral underone. Then Fox stops playing, and sprinkles salt over the edge of the lowest bowl.
