The artist is standing in an empty room. There is no sound. Then, suddenly, there is a pulse, which varies in pitch and pace, changing with the image. The pulse seems to attach itself to her. They become one. The artist does not change her position, but can be seen alternately from close to and far away. Each image is linked to a particular pitch. When the image changes, so does the sound.
In this video performance from 1974, Export investigates the space in which she finds herself by linking up 'seeing' with 'hearing'. In this way, a space can be experienced in different ways. The sound returns an echo, the reflection determines the dimensions of the room. The viewing, and placing, of a body in a space gives a physical definition of space.
