Slicing of Time

For this edition of LIMA Online, Martijn van Boven has selected works form the LIMA collection that bring to the fore the slicing of time via different types of systems of software, hardware and through optical means. In the current moment, we lack a traditional time routine. It seems that nowadays time can be stretched and morphed; that artists manipulate the cinematic, electronic or digital apparatus in more unorthodox ways. This program examines how the human audio-visual perceived world can be brought into a dynamic relationship between the eye and the cinematic world.

The selected works include, The Kiss by Rafael Montanez Ortiz, 1986, 6’17” (1986), CROPS by Gerco de Ruijter, 2012, 3'43'', Sonar
Anouk De Clercq, 2001, 1'45'', and Time Out of Place by Semiconductor, 2008, 9'35'', among others.
